ParticipantHi,
Was googling for help for some problems with my Zanussi tabletop dishwasher (ZSF 2440) and bumped into this website. I was wondering if someone might be able to advise please?
It last ran a full cycle successfully before I went away for Christmas. I came home on 4th Jan and thought I’d better run a quick cycle (around 30mins) before using it after standing unused for 10 days.
An hour or so later, I went back into the kitchen to find a couple of pints of water on the floor and the dishwasher making churning noises (like the start of a cycle). Weirdly, I noticed that all the lights were off, even though it was running. I switched it off at the wall immediately and let it settle before opening to investigate.
There was a little musty smelling water under the filter cover. The arm was spinning smoothly, nothing in the filter. Looking at the back, there are no immediately obvious problems with the hoses. I haven’t had the casing off, mostly because I know if/once I start, I’ll need to finish the job and I won’t want to have bits of dishwasher hanging around waiting for parts. That, and I need to know what’s wrong first!
Popped it on again this afternoon to see if it would at least fill. It immediately sounded much louder than usual and within 3 minutes, the lights went off on the control panel, though the machine was still running. Worryingly, the trip function that should halt the cycle when you open the door, didn’t work and it carried on trying to fill when I opened it up. It’s been switched off again at the wall.
The machine is 4 years old. I only use Finish products and I live alone so it only gets used 2-3 times per week.
My feeling is that it’s probably the pump but I’d appreciate any light anyone can shed on this please? Not least some indication of whether it might be comething I can fix myself, or whether I need to call an engineer.
Many thanks for reading,

Completely clear that “musty” water out from under the filter and check there’s no obstructions down there! It’s symptomatic of the sump being well gunged up and/or the drain pump not operating.

Hi Martin, and many thanks for the response 🙂
I cleared the water but couldn’t see any obvious blockage. I took the drainage cover off and gently probed the various fill/drainage holes with a flexible pipecleaner type thing – which comes back clean, and doesn’t appear to meet any resistance/blockage.
Any suggestions for next steps please?
Many thanks!

Then it’s time to delve deeper and check out the drain pump.
Power disconnected first of course. :zap:
