Our Washer Dryer stops drying after about 14-15 mins. It does this whether on a timed dry or an automatic iron/cupboard/extra dry. The dryer does heat up. When it stops the counter jumps to zero and there is no error code. Sometimes the timer counts down too fast – ie it will count down every 20 secs approx instead of every minute, but it still jumps to zero at some point. A couple of weeks ago I took the back and cover off to see if I could see anything obvious – it completed 2 drying cycles without fault without the cover on. But with the cover on again it does not work. It makes me think there is an overheating problem, or a loose connection.

    Any suggestions? Thanks

That fact makes no sense at all TBH. Yes, overheating cannot be ruled out so the logical thing to do next would be to remove and clean the condenser. Also check the blower fan and of course the NTC’s. That’s what we in the trade would do anyway.

    Hello Martin,

    Thanks for your help.

I have cleaned out the condenser, which was a bit blocked up with fluff, but this hasn’t fixed the problem. The time taken for the dryer to stop seems to be more variable now. I have measured 13-18 minutes.

The NTC sensor on the duct that connects the condenser to the drum is reading about 4.7k ohms when disconnected and there is a voltage across it of about 3.3 volts DC when cool, decreasing when the drier is in use. I am not sure what the values should be but that seems reasonable. There is no short to earth.

The blower is turning and hot air is entering the machine.

Are there any other sensors to check?

    Thanks

    Nick

PS. When I said “does not work” in my first post I should have said “does not work properly” – ie it works initially but then stops after about 15 mins as I had described.

2 NTC’s in total, one on the heater duct, the other on the bottom condenser hose.

    Hello,

The sensor on the heat duct appears to be working, but I think it may be the cause of the problem. I have found another post on another forum which says replacing this sensor has fixed a similar problem. Also, when I press the left most buttons on the machine after the machine stops, I get error E73, which points to this sensor being the cause.

This looks like the correct part, but it does not seem to have a seal.

Should I try to replace the seal round the probe at the same time? Can I get one from UKwhitegoods?

    Thanks

It should be just fine using the original seal provided it is not perished of course.

    This might help others too.

I found diagnostics information for this washer dryer on this link: (look at EWM3000new) There is information for many other models here too – check out the cross reference tables at the back.

    Just to let you know…

Replacing the sensor on the heating duct has fixed the problem. Though I think cleaning the condenser was probably necessary too.

    Thanks

Anyone have access to the link mentioned above. Need diagnostics as the machine is cutting out after a couple of seconds whatever it’s on.
