Cheers Martin 🙂
…I use loctite bonding/sealer…basically silicone but a bit thicker and ‘chewier’ than normal silicone. I’m aware that stainless steel comes in over 400 grades ranging from aerospace down to recycled bean tin, and most dishwashers fall firmly in the last category, but when you examine the holes carefully there is no sign of corrosion whatsoever i.e. the sides of the hole are bright.
Also, from the previous threads, the holes seem to be in the same area each time…must be something to do with the manufacturing process i’d a thought?
I’ve had one or two other makes with this prob over the years but it’s not as common as on the Bosch’s it seemsClive

Nah! It’s just location, location, location 🙁
Their are two vunerable areas to check on this range of machine, namely around the salt cap AND lift the drain filter and check around the recess especially in the corners 🙂
Haven’t yet tried Penguin45’s “Petro Patch Solution” but that does sound a better job. If it can stop petroleum leaks it’s sure to stop a water leak 8)

Until we became involved with Bosch, I had only ever found one perforated d/washer tub, that was on a Zanussi d/washer in a Science Lab. in a School. It was used for washing glassware in the Lab.
I consulted Zanuusi Technical Dept. and they had never heard of a similar case. I delved into my Tech. library and postulated that if particles of the lighter metals stuck to the Stainless Steel it would cause “electron migration” from the chromium and render the steel subject to corrosion.
I put this theory to the Head of Physics at the School and he was in full agreement, they replaced the d/washer.

:lol2: Did they replace it with the ‘plastic tub’ Bosch version I wonder? :rotl:

We had the same thing in a school lab with 2 Hotpoint/bosch style dishwashers even though they swore they only washed ‘clean’ test tubes in it. Somehow, my tingling hands told be otherwise.
