Please Help…Drum is making clanging noises when washing/spinning and can move drum back and forwards manually to and away from front of machine. Will not clip into a holding position.Retired couple use only…no family loads.
White plastic/metal?? small pieces are attaching to clothes in a pelling fashion.
Back off-shows pulleys are OK.Bearings??

Drum moving front to back is normal as the whole assembly is moving on springs suspension, unless of course there is a problem with the suspension and it has broken-not common, but would tally with: “Will not clip into a holding position”. But or and, what you might have meant was the drum is lose up and down, i.e. it is wobbly. This is either the drum bearings worn out or and the drum`s spider has broken. Either way not cheap to fix and SOME models of this series have a sealed tank anyway so these parts replacement/s is not an option in any case other than a replacement tank/drum assembly.The bits of plastic are friction burns from the drum rubbing the front of the plastic tank behind the door seal most likely.
