    Hi,

We are having draining problems with our Bosch machine, which is about 5 years old. We get E25 error code at the end of each cycle, sometimes with water left in the machine. The fault code clears when the machine is switched off.

After giving the filters a thorough clean, then removing the cover over the impeller and checking that it’s clean as a whistle, and the impeller moves very freely. We then thought the problem was in the pipework somewhere, and pulled the machine out to check the outlet hose, blowing through it and then running cycles with dishwasher cleaner, and then vinegar.

We find that if we let the cycle run part-way, and then abort it, it runs through the usual 1 min abort cycle with no problem, fully draining the water which flows out very fast. However, if it runs a full cycle, it won’t do the final drain. We think it my just be the final drain as the crockery is clean and the water left is only slightly soapy.

Could this be a problem with a sensor?

    Grateful for any advice!

More likely the drain pump is worn out and sticks when trying to pump hot water, but drains cold water OK?

Not sure – I think it’s pumping out hot water during the abort cycle? (I’ll check with my other half who was doing the work with it.) is replacing the drain pump straightforward?

I’ve just checked with the man who knows and it’s pumping out hot soapy water when a wash is aborted mid-cycle, but not pumping out the final rinse at the end of the cycle.

OK, we have now established the pattern with the errors –

The machine is not draining at the end of a full wash cycle. It shows an E25 error, and there are variable amounts of water left (we haven’t necessarily observed exactly what it’s doing as we usually run full cycles overnight). Crockery is clean so it appears to be completing the wash and rinse parts of the cycle.

Switching off and switching on the machine clears the error code. If a new wash cycle is started, it starts by pumping out the residual water (usually either warm or cold by this point) with no problem.

If a cycle is aborted part-way through, the water (hot) is pumped out with no problem.

So it seems to be able to pump both hot and cold water, but just not at the end of a cycle.

    Any other ideas?

    many thanks

Not really, lot of head scratching on my part right now. 🙁

Tell me, what to and how is the drain hose connected? Do please describe the set-up your end?

Re: Bosch SMS50E02GB/04 not draining properly

The drain hose just slots into an outflow pipe, leaving an air gap. The machine was pulled out over the weekend and the drain hose was just flowing into a bucket so we could check for any residue and also check the flow – and when it does drain it’s very fast.

We can’t see what’s going on where the hose attaches to the machine – I’ve seen on YouTube some bosch models have a panel you can take off to access the hoses and check for blockages, but ours doesn’t have that. Also, the pattern of errors doesn’t really suggest a blockage, unless water coming out of the initial pump at the start of a cycle, or through the abort cycle, is routed differently (which would be weird)?
