Initial complaint of no grill or oven working. Power had been turned off so to make sure it was not due to being set on auto I switched the power on and set the timer, it did set to correct time but had to press the -+ buttons a few times to get it to play ball.
Apart from the cooling fan working on certain settings nothing else works( internal bulb was already faulty ).
All elements, fan motor, main thermostat etc check out perfectly. The rotary selector switch appears fine. There is a small TOC at the top, back corner that is CC and a slightly larger one near the selector switch that is OC, is that correct?
It points towards the control unit being faulty, is this a known or common fault on these?

Yes correct, the front one the cooling fan stat (NO) and the rear one the oven overheat safety stat (NC).
Not sure about the timer being at fault as it could be the selector switch……maybe?

I did consider that as a possibility but all of the switches ‘appear’ to be functioning. :con:

That’s another odd one as the cooling fan should only come on when that front stat closes.

Hmm, i dont think that front stat does that martin, i think this is a timer fault,
As a matter of interest when you set a bosch oven to programme mode, to say cook for 2 hours and be ready for 6 pm the cooling fan will run untill the cooking time is finished, and that could be all day!

So the cooling fan was running before the oven started to heat, how odd is that?

Yes, but not on all settings, didn’t actually make a note of exactly which settings though. :clown:
She did mention that it had been working fine until her son set the timer to auto cook over Christmas.

…..then I’m with you into being pretty darn sure the Timer is the guilty party based on that fact.

Back again, should have updated the thread at the time. fault turned out to be the selector switch. I changed that last February and it has worked perfectly until this week.
Exactly same fault as before, I know the top/grill elements fail for fun on these but selector switches???
