Hoover Performa WA110-001 W/D rust on clothes continued–

You may remember I posted a query about rust marks on clothes that had been through the above mentioned machine

Well I spoke to the customer b4 xmas, and suggested she buy a cheap towel and put it in on a wash, and inspect it for rust marks after, then put it back in and dry it, just to see if she could replicate the marks, I did say she might have to do this several times.
I also made the suggestion that beauty products could be a problem, as advised on this forum.

Well the answer has been discovered.
One day customer was pulling clothes to be washed from the washing basket to wash in a friends machine, as she didn’t want to damage any more clothes, when she found an item of clothing that had the rust marks on, which she never washes in the machine as it is hand wash only.
This got her thinking, eventually she found that the wicker clothes basket she bought about 6 weeks ago, had metal strengtheners within the wicker to retain it’s shape. These had been rusting and the rust had run to the bottom of the basket, The carpet under the basket is also covered in rust stains!!

She has returned to the shop and complained, and the manager has agreed to compensate her for the damage, including the clothes, carpet cleaning or renewal and my invoice for looking at the machine.
