Hello,
I have an Indesit WD12S washer dryer which is currently refusing to work.
On switching it on, it starts to fill, but the drum does not rotate and the control knob starts clicking round continuously.
I’ve found various things on the net about checking the number of flashes on the power light. It appears to flash twice. Again, research suggests this may be a jammed motor. That kind of ties in with the fact that the control knob starts to click round when I would expect the drum to start spinning.
However, I have had the back off the machine and I am able to turn both the motor and the drum freely.
So I don’t believe that the motor is physically jammed.
Mention has also been made to me of a pressure tube from the bottom of the drum, running to a switch near the control unit. Apparently, that can get blocked and can cause problems. I have found that tube, but have not as yet been able to get to the bottom end of it. I have done several jobs on the Indesit and every time observed that access to the innards is not easy!
Any suggestions on what the problem could be please? I seriously cannot afford a new washing machine at this time, but have pretty good mechanical skills once I know where to put my screwdriver or spanner (just not at diagnosing faults).
Thanks,
Tim
