I have recently purchased a Hotpoint FFA91P fridge / freezer. The noise from the compressor and fans is fine, but the noise of refrigerant going round the system is driving me crazy! It sounds like a water cistern as it is close to filling up. Is this normal for this range of fridge freezers or will it settle down over time?

    Many thanks

    Hi Stefan
In my experience, yes it may settle down although this can’t be guaranteed…the problem is actually due to the high standard of modern insulation within the machine which therefore has much thinner walls than used to be the case a number of years ago. The result is there is less ‘bulk’ to absorb the refrigerant noises.
Not a lot you can do except wait and see i’m afraid.

Stefan, you are the second person to report this noise in the past few days, seems as if this noise is just ‘normal’ on these appliances. Complain to Hotpoint so at least they will know there is a problem.

    Re: Hotpoint FFA91P noise

Hi, I also have just purchased a FFA91P and i too think that the gurgling noise is excesive, having previously had an LG frost free that didnt make this kind of noise at all!
Hotpoint have advised me to leave it for a couple of months to run in. I have read somewhere else that hotpoint have blamed the retailer for not explaining to the customer about the noise, if this is the case they should probably put a sticker on the appliance to advise customers that tha appliance emits an excessive and intolerable noise.
