    Hi guys does any one know who makes a Lamona washing machine from howdens and is there any contact details for them.

    I have a customer with one where the inner drum has exploded badly and done quite a lot of damage to the kitchen. They thought it was an Indesit at first lol.

    Most of the Lamona washing machines i’ve worked on are based on the Hoover/Candy design. But they’ve been the washer dryer versions.

    any i have seen were hoover/candy, lamona appliances have a 2 year
    guarantee from howdens.

    Thanks guys I’m just passing the info on to the customer, its a 3 year old machine that gone off like a bomb, it physically damaged two kitchen units and the worktop, the customer is claiming on here home insurance but they have sent an inspector and have decided its a manufacturing issue and they won’t do the work,they contacted indesit and they sent me out believing it was an Indesit asking for a report.

    It’s a bloody mess mind, its never good when you can see the inner drum from under the machine as you walk up to it.

    When I worked for Comet, I was sent out to quite a few to assess the damage caused by the exploding Candy drums. Posted a few good shots. When the drum splits, the force is strong enough to slice the weight bolts in half. everyone I inspected had the same problem, the seam on the inner drum had come apart on a fast spin and sliced the outer tub. I spoke to an old design colleague in Milan (I worked for Candy until 2001 on research and development and worked in Brugherio in Italy). He told me that the drum design was under investigation but couldn’t give too much away.

    When you look at Lamona customer services, it shows a GDHA. So Glen Dimplex

    GDHA have the contract with Howdens (who supply the builders with the appliances) to repair the Lamona (howdens own) brand. The washers are Hoover, fridges Beko, dishwashers Beko, ovens/hobs could be Beko, Samsung or Stoves.
