    CheersmerryxmashappyUKWhitegoodsnewyear from sunny Sth Australia,

Machine is 10 years old and has never had any problems whatsoever in that time but has suddenly decided to stop several times during its cycle usually just before detergent drawer is about to open.
Observations….Slow to fill….sometimes does not fill sufficiently ….. sometimes fills to brim…one click on the timer gets it going.
I have removed the power cord and removed sides and base, checked the black hose to the sump from the matrix …OK. The micro switch in the Matrix tests OK…. The small clear tube to the inlet solenoid thingy seems to operate a diaphragm OK when I suck and blow.
There is no water in the tray under the machine or any other leaks or obstructions to the overflow float assembly.
The matrix seems remarkably clean after 10 yrs of daily use.
There is a filter basket at the tap end of the hose and that was also clean.
I’m thinking timer or water inlet solenoid ( but the machine sometimes fills to the brim).
Is the machine past its used by date?

    regards….Valvo 😕

    Valvo,

Keep the faith mate, they are good machines and all is not lost 😀

Certainly the Inlet/Safety Valve will be suspect and worth changing for what it costs 😉

Stick a new valve in then check its filling process through the matrix. It should fill that fairly quickly, overflow and activate the float switch THREE TIMES to complete each fill process

    Martin,
    Thanks for the prompt reply.
I have since removed the small clear tube from the inlet valve assembly end and flushed water back into the matrix.
I suspect it has removed a restriction from a U-bend at the bottom r.h.s. of the matrix and now the machine will cycle properly but takes 15 to 20 mins to fill and only operates the float assembly once.
I guess it points to the inlet assembly….is that part supplied as a complete assembly with inlet solenoid and pressure diaphragm ?

Her Indoors reckons a new machine is the way to go as the front panel with the dials is a bit scratched and grubby (10yrs of teenagers)but my local Bosch service guy is not to impressed with the new basic Bosch machines.
Is it time to go Miele for a good machine or do Bosch have a model built as well as this oldie.

    regards….Valvo

    Yes it comes complete 🙂

Now I urged you last time to “keep the faith”, don’t listen to her 😆 , buy a new valve and stick it in….end of problem. Now is not the time to go out buying new Miele dishwasher just ‘cos the dials are a bit scratched.

Besides all the new fangled machines take twice as long to do the washing up as that gem sat in the corner of your kitchen right now. Think of all the brownie points you will earn fixing it….Get a grip!!! :lol2:

    Martin,
Didn’t listen to her, installed the new part, didn’t score any brownie points but saved myself about $1200. (new part was $90) Machine is working perfectly again.
Watching that matrix do its thing is better than watching TV.
The Bosch spare parts/sales guy reckons these are good for at least 14yrs but looking at the way its built it should go longer than that….most impressed.
Interestingly my first Bosch dishwasher (a 1977 model with push buttons sold here as a Simpson) was still going well until last year when the owner had a kitchen fire.
Once again thanks for the help 😀

    regards….Valvo
