ParticipantThe timer shows random times rather than the normal run times for quick wash etc. Programs seem to run forever and we have to stop it by reset buttons. Water sprays around and the pump does its job and there appears to be salt in the water. I have cleaned the filtes and removed the bottom inner cover over the impeller and all is clear. I have turned all power off, wall plug out in a bid to reset but to no avail. I cant see any “codes” in the display or do I have to do something to make them come up? Machine is maybe 7 years old and all fine so far.
Any help or advice gratefully received.February 4, 2013 at 2:24 pm #389420Martin

Salt in the water? Blimey, not sounding good at this stage then. Does it heat that salty water by any chance?

Got that wrong was remains of tablet making it cloudy. Yes on quick wash, which now shows 51mins on display, the water is warm/hot.

Sounds like it needs a good clean out of the internal pipe work. And I wouldn’t mind betting you live in a hard water area, yet don’t always top up the salt container….right?

Water isnt especially hard and we always top up salt as light comes on when needed so cant be ignored. Machine empyties fine no problem so cant see that pipes are bunged up. Would that make the timer show wrong finishing times. Even a rinse that appears to work ok shows 51 mins run time. What do i do to clean pipes thro as dont mind trying thins.

Errr? Excuse me….I’ve been in the trade repairing Bosch for over 30 yes and rather than suggesting the pipes are bunged up I’m now telling you they are. And yes cycles times likewise would be affected. Access via left hand side panel removal.

I assumed “pipes” meant the pump out discharge pipes hence the reference to empties fine. I also assumed “bunged up” refered to things getting past the filters and through the the pump outlet pipe. Just a little bit more info as to which pipes you refer to being bunged up and with what would have been more helpful than biting my head off. This is a self help forum after all and I dont have years of experience to point me in the right direction in interpreting advice……

Your assumptions didn’t stretch far enough then as earlier I referred to “internal pipe work” which is an all encompassing phrase not just defined to the drain section of the appliance. 😉

Ok..if I can just squeeze a tiny bit more info from you bearing in mind I am going into uncharted territory..having removed the side panel do i remove every pipe i can see and clean out with a curtain wire..or do i buy some super cleaning chemical to soak them. What would you do? And would this have to be done to the water inlet pipe as well?

Remove the side panel first and all will be obvious. And forget using curtain wire.
