Hi, I have just bought a house that has a Lacanche Macon range oven. This is not necessarily my choice of oven, and I am finding it very hard to get used to. I am considering getting a new oven, but I see that Lacanche is considered quite high end, so I’m wondering if there could be something wrong with the oven?
The gas oven is next to impossible to control, and seems to only operate at super high temperature. The electric oven works okay, but neither oven is big enough so I have to use both and I can’t balance out their different ways of cooking. There is also a lot of heat coming out the front of the oven (knobs become too hot to touch) and up from behind the oven and if I’m roasting it is incredibly smoky. I think the heat of the oven has affected the external wall as there seems to be a discolouration to the external brick work over the oven area. So I’m wondering if some seals may have gone and if I sort them out maybe I won’t find it so annoying, or perhaps this is the emperors new clothes of range cookers.
Thanks,
Claire
