hotpoint fid20wh/1 put fan oven on ok, put top oven on at same time when main oven up to 180 trips elec had new grill element and top base element fittedworked for a bit then trips agian took it back to work shop tripped took back off no faults found ran it with back off worked ok , dent in back so pulled it out tryed it for 2 days in shop worked ok took it back they had it a day and its tripped its only about 2 years old so not old, anyone advise ?

Insulation test should be pretty near perfect (infinity) to be certain sure the RCD/MCB’s won’t trip. And on the assumption that is the case then only the moment it trips can it be possible to isolate the guilty element if it is a temperature related problem? (It sounds like it from what you tell us anyway)

He tried in workshop for 2 days and didnt trip!

insalation test spot on but never had the chance to test it when it tripped, it tripped 1st time in the shop but by the time i tested it was ok, then never tripped again for 2 days so i thought it was cos the back had a dent it it, worked ok when i pulled dent out, went off when back at the house, unless its hitting something at the back!

It is certain to be an element but it sounds like you’ve go to stand over it and test it the moment it trips to pinpoint which one it is. If the dented back panel were to blame chances are a huge flash mark on the panel would be evident.

i had two ovens last year where the cable to the oven 6mm
had melted, and eathed out , pig to find, worked ok till oven heated up and got cable hot,canufixit

they say its going off with just main oven now so going to check the fan element, had diff cable on it at shop so not the the cable, let ya know !

update on this oven, changed the fan element, so all 3 elements new, still tripped when both ovens on at 180! tried fan oven on by its self works fine, then grill fine thjen top oven fine? saw that the fan element hand no earth wire its the one with the lond earth so i thought try putting an earth cable on it and its fine now with both ovens on full belt ! has done my head in !
