My daughter’s dishwasher is not completing its wash cycle. It originally stopped with error code AL05. The filter was cleaned and it now stops with error code AL08.
I went across last week and tried a few of the settings. The results as follows:
Fast cycle: stops at 16:00 minutes – no error code – water warm.
Special Guest cycle: stops at 22:00 minutes – no error message – water warm.
Prewash cycle: completes cycle.
Normal cycle: water warm but not hot – I didn’t have time to complete the cycle but taking longer than the 72 mins indicated in the user manual.
I didn’t run the Eco cycle but this is the one with error AL08 near the end.
I believe error AL08 refers to the heating element but the water does get warm (but not hot) could it still be faulty or is there another component at fault?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you

Both the heater and the control pcb are known weak points on Indesit dishwashers . This error code can also be caused by the ntc (temp sensor) coming loose inside the door. After removing the mains plug that would be the first thing to check, take care if you do open up the door, the edges are very sharp.

Thank you for your prompt reply. I will check the ntc when I go to my daughter’s next week. Do you have a part no. for it as I can’t find it on the Hotpoint website?
If the water is warm can the heater still be faulty? Do you know what resistance it should be?
Many thanks

You won’t find the ntc anywhere, it is hard wired to the main pcb so you need to buy the pcb to get the ntc. TBH the ntc rarely fails but it can come adrift from behind the tiny clip used to secure it to the inside if the door.
Heater should be around 26.5?

Hi iadom
Thank you again, I’ve found an image of the module (C00144658) which shows the NTC on a lead. I will post again when I’ve had an opportunity to check the fixing of the NTC and the heater resistance. Probably next Wednesday.

There are a couple of variations of this machine, you need to give us the full model number and serial number plus any other numbers you can find. The pcb’s are not the same.

Hi iadom
Thanks for reply. To save getting the machine out and turning it on its side is it possible to check the heater resistance from the connectors to the control module? If so do you know which pins or is there a circuit diagram available anywhere on the net?
Many thanks

Sadly no diagrams, copyright material which we will not post for that reason. You really need to test the heater unit itself, testing from the pcb connectors could show up a poor circuit that could be a wiring fault, you wouldn’t want to be ordering and fitting a heater to find there was a break in the door wiring harness or similar.

Hi iadom
The Dishwasher is now working. It wasn’t the thermistor or the heater. It was a leak at the connector which joins the waste pipe to its extension. This hadn’t been found as the join was under the cupboards and on a non tiled area of the floor. The water level in the dishwasher wasn’t reaching the correct level to advance the program.
Many thanks for your help.
