ParticipantWe’ve had a Creda T630CW for more than 10 years now and during this time it has worked flawlessly. However, recently it stopped heating up and so, after some research, I replaced the thermostats. Unfortunately this didn’t work and so today I changed the heater element but this hasn’t worked either and the dryer is still not getting hot.
Is there a reset switch or something I’ve missed or could it be possible that one of the new components I’ve installed is faulty ?
Any helpful advice would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Probably the Reversing Timer in the base then I would think. 😉

Thanks for post Martin.
Does the reversing timer control the stop starts and direction of the drum ? If so, the dryer is still stopping and starting while it’s on although I have no way of checking if the drum is changing direction.

You should be able to tell by just listening. It will only run in reverse for a very short time before continuing to rotate forward.
I wouldn’t advise running it with power on with the lid or any other panels off.

Thanks for the post bazza500.
I just ran the dryer for about 4 minutes and it certainly didn’t stop at any point to change rotation. Should I leave it for longer or should it have got rotated (and got hot) within that time ?

The reverse timer switches the heater on and off as it reverses and is the main source of not heating complaints (other than the stats and element of course). So chances are, and from what you tell us, that is your likely cause.

I’m not sure how long it runs forward before reversing but it I think it will be longer than 4 minutes.
I seem to think it may be as long as 10 or 15 but I am not sure. Maybe someone else can remember.

Not long enough, the long tumble is almost 6 minutes ( 5 min 48 sec ) to be precise. 😉 The short reverse tumble is 6 seconds.
If it does not do the short reverse after 6 minutes then its 99{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} certain the base timer has failed. It is possible to advance this timer from underneath without removing any panels. If you do this and the heater then works you must not run it like this for any period of time as it will stick with the heater on.
There is also a stat mounted just inside the door opening at the top, also a faulty float switch will stop it heating.
