Go stuck with one of these integrated bits of tin and a door spring has obviously broken 🙁

Whirlpool Dishwashers are not my cup of tea, don’t usually touch them but I must sort this out for a special customer 😉

So I have ordered up a pair of springs and ‘other’ bits that appear associated to it 😕 . It looks to me as though they can only be accessed from underneath as the side panels are a welded unit possibly the outer door panel has to come off just to get the bottom panel off also?

    What a fag!

    Advice much appreciated 😀

You won’t need the springs Martin, they never break, I’m guessing the door drops heavily and the customer heard a “twang” ?

On the diagram, order these position numbers:

    0441
    0452
    0451
and possibly 0450 but they don’t break either normally.

Remove the outer door panel and the lower cover, tip the dishwasher backwards and it can all be done from there, you’ll also need to gain access to the back to pull the springs back on to their anchoring points (attach long cable tie to spring, reassemble door bits then pull from rear using said cable tie).

That should do the trick 😀

    You’re a star Dave thanks 😀

In fact I did include those parts you mentioned so I was on the right track at least and now will print your ‘assembly instructions’ for when I call back and fix the darned thing.

Thats another  of Fosters I owe now I expect :rotfl:

I Have not done one of these for a while but remember fondly keeping a 2ft bit of strong string in my box for pulling the spring through the back. You can do this job without pulling the appliance out if you feed the string through the hole at the back and connect the spring to the metal band/plastic rod and pull through.

saves you the hassle of taking the machine out.

Strange how we do it differently….

I do this from the front without moving the appliance at all, and use “strimmer cable” to thread through the front of the hinge apperture to hook onto the hinge, pulling from the front.

Yeah but when you’re a chubby bugger like me I can’t lay on the floor and reach in there 😆

Martin of course could walk under the dishwasher and repair it from the inside :rotl:

    That’s a  I owe you now for taking the p1ss I suppose 😉

and what happens when the door pops open everytime it is used ‘cos the whole thing is twisted due to the door having slammed down? Had one like that once, never did cure it.

Hinge kit cures it – cheap ….. lots of blood …… bad language – why do we do it…….?

No Mark, you’re right we’ve had a few like that. That cabinets are crap, as Martin said a bit of tin and they bend easily and never seal right again. 🙁

    Pure class from Whirlpool. 🙁
