ParticipantHi
my Lamona integrated dishwasher has developed a potentially dangerous fault. The machine works “perfectly” except that at the end of the cycle the heater remains on. I first discovered this when I emptied the machine in the morning, having set it going when I went to bed – my usual practise. I could hear the water sizzling in the bottom of the machine. I have tried it on a variety of programmes but the heater always remains on. Coping at the moment by only running it in the evening and switching off at the end of the cycle. Howdens don’t want to know as it is out of warranty and bought a few weeks before they began to offer the 2 year warranty. I presume it is an electronic problem? Is repair likely to be expensive and would a new dishwasher be the way to go?Any help appreciated

I should buy a better machine to avoid burning the house down if I were you!

I was hoping for a more thoughtful response! Anyone any ideas as what the problem could be and what it might cost? Or should I move on?

The heater relay on the main PCB is likely stuck in the on position and replacing the PCB would cure that. These machines suffer endless problems of one form or another And in my opinion are a ruddy liability, hence my earlier short shrift reply. Your machine can be fixed and surprisingly not that expensive to do so but once it is sorted I strongly advise not to turn your back on it. And certainly don’t put it on overnight or when left unattended for any length of time. You have been warned!

Yup, probably a fault with the pressure switch or the PCB.
But it is highly inadvisable to leave products running unattended, we see too many of them leaking or in a few extreme cases, going on fire to say anything else.

Thank you Martin and kwatt.
It looks as though I will be looking for a new dishwasher! Any recommendations? I will email Lamona with details of the fault as it is potentially dangerous.

I would recommend Bosch or Neff. They are practically the same and come with a 2 year warranty. As a brand Bosch consistently win the best large appliance brand in the Which report 😉 ….. It’s more expensive but far better than the Lamonas.
…. In hard water areas ALWAYS use salt in the appliance to re-generate the softener unit! (unless you have an ‘Auto 3-1’ option)September 23, 2014 at 6:34 pm #390568lee8

I wouldn’t bother emailing Lamona. The Chinese couldn’t give a toss about issues. Customers demand/buy cheap products, this is what they get.

That post is 18 months old. I wonder if he ever did send that email, or got a reply? Monkeys, gives, who even. 😀
