ParticipantHiya.
My washing machine has decided that it doesn’t like to spin when there is washing inside. It will do a full cycle when empty.
It will turn and it will do a slow spin, it will turn one way then the other, i guess trying to re-balance the load, then try to build up speed but no matter how much
washing is inside it just wont continue into the fast spin part of the cycle. it stops and two lights flash, the Start light and the prewash one.
I have looked over the hoover washing machine troubleshooting and i can’t see anything to help of there either.
I have taken the filter out, it was fine.Checked that the springs and belt are ok and both seem to be.
Checked that the water pipe in and out arent blocked.
There are what sort of look like shock absorbers under the drum and they move up and down.
I have tried doing the cycle with a slow spin speed (700rpm) but it still wont do a full spin part of the cycle.
I’m not an expert (obviously) but if anyone could give me any other ideas on how to fix it i would really appreciate it.
UPDATE: It has now as we speak decided it will do a half load on a spin speed of 900.Thanks for any advice in advance
Sara

You are experiencing an out of balance load especially prevalent with clothing that are heavy when wet yet cannot be evenly spread around the drum. The electronics detects this and attempts to redistribute the load by reverse tumbling and then tries again up to around 8 times. If it fails to balance the load it aborts and the lights flash. Adding more to the load or untangling often resolves the problem.

Thank you Martin, I did think it was out of balance initially, but after trying several loads of varying sizes it still doesn’t want to spin at full speed with any real weight in it. Also it will work with a light load on a fairly slow spin speed but not at the faster speeds.
After playing with it all day i have noticed that it seems to be when it is trying to get to the fast speeds (and its jiggling about) it cuts out and if i brace the outer shell of the washing machine to stabilize the whole thing it will get up to full speed sometimes.

Hmmmm? Sounds like you may have to look into where it is located and ensure the adjustable feet are set correctly and locked into position. Hopefully it is located on a solid floor not wooden? Beyond that we would need the model number of the machine and/or its product number to investigate further.

Hiya thanks again
I think it’s a HFN7313. I don’t know where to find its product number as its not written anywhere on the machine that i can see and I’ve lost the manual.
Its on a solid tiled floor, its been in the same position for 2 years although it wasn’t completely level, as who ever did the tiling didn’t level the floor, but all four feet are firmly on the ground when in position, But when you look at it and the work top you can see its closer to the worktop on the right hand side.

Sounds lie the feet then have never been adjusted to compensate for the uneven surface or indeed locked firmly in place either. Time to get out the spanner AND the spirit level I reckon. 😉
