Samsung SR-L3928b fridge freezer not working
Hi I have a Samsung SR-L3928 fridge freezer that has been working away happily for many years. The appliance has now developed a problem where it seems to have stopped working properly even though the display is indicating that it is on. When the appliance is switched off and then back on again the fridge and freezer starts up. The motor and fan can be heard running and the freezer freezes perfectly. The appliance will then go into rest mode once it has reached temperature but does not switch back on again. As a result everything starts to thaw. If at this point the power is switched on and then on again everything starts to work perfectly again. What eve controls the function of switching the appliance on and off through this cycle is obviously not working correctly? It would be a shame to have to discard the fridge as it is in good condition and my need a simple repair. I have cleaned the micro switches and changed the temperature sensor but to no avail. Is there anyone out there that can offer any views or assistance? Joeb

Hello, you’ve more than likely got a problem with the defrost circuit on your appliance.
What happens is that it goes in to defrost mode and a heater comes on to defrost any frost that has accumulated on the evaporator.
At this point, the electronics in the appliance are waiting for a signal from the defrost sensor to switch off the heater when the evaporator reaches a certain temperature.
If you have a problem on the heat circuit and the evaporator isn’t heating up then the electronics are still waiting for the signal.
Typically, you’ll have a problem with the defrost heater (open circuit), although it could also be thermal fuse.
