    Hi all,
Looking for a bit of help!

I have a 6 yr old Hotpoint WD420 washer dryer.

In the last 2 weeks it has started to leak from detergent drawer during some washes.

When you come into the kitchen there is A sizeable puddle on the floor at the left hand side of machine.

It happens on the rinse and spin cycle. I observed it today. It happens when the clothes are spinning quickly and then the spin stops suddenly. Its as if the immediate stopping of the spin is forcing the water backwashing up into the detergent drawer.

Can anyone give me some advice on what is causing this and how to resolve. Is there too much water in the machine during rinse or is it something else.

Thanks and hopefully someone can help me out.

Have you checked the drain filter for blockages..it may be stopping the spin cycle as the water is not getting pumped out fast enough..

Yep as has been said its blocked. It can’t pump The water out via the sump so the spin forces it out of the draw,

First UNPLUG the machine as all the electrics are under there, The sump is located under the machine towards the back. The big rubber black thing with a clear tube attached to it.
Inside is a plastic filer and a ball. Undo the large clip and remove and clear rubbish, when you refit it all the plastic sump cage only goes on 1 way so make sure it clips in

Have you washes any new towels or bath mats recently ?

    Thanks for the response guys.
I’ve cleaned the conditioner drawer and there are no blockages.
I should have explained, the wash completes no problem, the machine does not stop because of this -what I meant by suddenly stopping was the drum spinning. During the rinse cycle, when the drum spins quite fast and then the spin stops, you can see the pressure forcing the water against the door and that’s when it is forced out the conditioner drawer.
Would a drain filter blockage cause this? Or could the machine take in too much water on rinse cycle?
    Thanks

Read back to madangler1’s reply to you and that is EXACTLY what is required in order to resolve your problem. 😉

The is no “filter” as such fitted to this model by the way.
