    Hello All

    My friend has a Miele W149 top loading washing machine. When you switch it on the start light flashes very quickly but does not start and no other lights come on. Does this sound like a major problem or an easy fix. Thanks for any help.

    If the start light is flashing… It means either the inner lid of the drum is not closed properly,or if the lid is closed..then it’s the lid switch that needs replacing

    Thanks for the reply Martin. Had a look last night and sometimes the machine would start when i switch it off and on, but would only run for no more than a few seconds, now the pre soak/ wash light stays on as well. Where is the lid switch located and how easy is it to change?

    Not sure of thenexact location of the switch, but if you look at the iner part of the door you should see some sort of locating lug on there, this is the part that locates in to the door locking switch..


    Also worth checking that the drum is in the correct location, before closing the lid..
    By that i mean that the drum access door is at the top..


    As for the other flashing lights

    Turn the power of at the machine
    Turn dial to finish/end of programme
    Turn machine back on
    And then re select programme

    If its still flashing..then its time to call a qualified engineer..
