    Got this condenser dryer and the metaldrum front lip that runs on the front plate is cracking and holed. Is this a common fault or is there another reason?

    Ouch! Those drums are costly aren’t they? Is it still under the Siemens 5 year warranty? Otherwise BER I would guess…….first time I have heard of this fault by the way.

    Qualtex have sold 35 since may.
    Part superseded as well!

    The drums are quite thin and the front edge can ‘shred’ if something/foreign object gets trapped between the front bearing plate and drum . It would normally be classed as accidental damage.

    And therefore not covered under guarantee no doubt.

    Had a customer last year with same problem. Told her to contact Bosch even tho it was out of warranty. They did drum replacement free of charge.

    Seems to have broken up where the wheels run on the lip if that helps.

    Regarding my previous post, that is where the damage was on my customers dryer on the front where the wheels run. Not a Siemens but a Bosch and out of the two year warranty but repaired FOC once customer had complained.
    Suspect they share the same insides and due to cost may be worth customer contacting Siemens and politely explaining her distress at the failure of such a quality product! 😉 .
