Is there any need for Grease inside the bearing housing where the bearings sit?? I guess grease might make it easier to tap the bearings into place, but could make them less secure in the housing??

Also, should I put grease on the sides of the bearings themselves? I have heard most bearing housings have a small hole to let out water that gets in, but this Zanussi doesn’t seem to have them.

Also, when I replace the pulley bolt is it necessary to use loctite thread sealant or some other glue, or does it matter at all??

Just a smear of grease on the outer sheath of the bearing to aid its seating is all that is required. Also a similar coating along the length of the drum shaft is ideal. Splashing grease around the bearing housing a pointless excercise. Secure the drum pulley bolt in place with Loctite Nutlok or similar.
