    Hi there

I have a 2007 model Bosch SGS46E02GB/75. It stopped heating when it was only just out of guarantee, and a man came to quote for a repair and said not to bother as it was uneconomic, that I should get a new one.

I couldn’t that so I just went back to washing up by hand. The dishwasher is still in place though – I have been using it as a recycling cupboard! But recently I have had to have my central heating boiler replaced, my hot water is cheaper and I’m wondering whether I could get it working again by connecting it to the hot water supply. The new boiler has quite a low water pressure 10l per minute.

    What do you reckon?

    Cheers

It will still not work if there is a heater fault, even connected to hot water inlet.

I reckon it is well worth fixing and I suspect the guy that said it was uneconomic only said that because likely as not he had no clue how to fix it? It could be a simple dry joint resoldering job of the PCB that is only required. But if it turns out that the heater unit does need replacing after all then the good news is that the price of the part has gone down dramatically in recent months. So today a heater change is a simple task and well worth fixing and far far cheaper than buying a new machine.

Thanks! I’ve got one of your recommendations ringing me back about it. It seems daft not to get it repaired if I can get it done for a reasonable cost.
