Machine was getting half way through program and then showing E20. Filter was OK so I looked in the fat drain tube inside and it had a sponge stuck in it.
On retry, the washer now skips to 3mins from the end which I think is the drain cycle and finishes without error. I’ve run the diagnostics and the last position gives an E85 code which I think means the recirculation pump. I tested that by attaching the drain pump wires to it and it works OK.
I’ve visually checked most of the wires, connections and control board but can’t see anything wrong.
Any ideas?
When checking the drain tube, I inverted the machine – could that have caused a problem?

Likely theres a blown triac on p.c.b that controls the recirculation pump.

On the grounds of pure entertainment your action qualifies for the ‘wally of the week award’ so I would like to thank you for that….nice one! 😀
To save your blushes I would add that I wouldn’t place too much credence into the E85 code. More likely is that by turning the ruddy machine upside down you have got water into the analogue pressure switch or some such repercussion caused by the effects of gravity. Likewise the circuit board may have been similarly subjected to water damage however minimal that may be.

Whereabouts is the analogue pressure switch?

Under the top support frame next to the other pressure switch.

Thanks Martin,
I’ve had both pressure sensors out and they’re bone dry.
Any other ideas?

Does anybody know what the machine does or checks in the first few seconds?
And, if I were to buy a new main board, am I correct in thinking it would need to be programmed on installation?

The electronics ‘self checks’ most circuits first before starting. (ie. drain pump, door lock, motor, heater and water level sensors)

A ‘configuration code’, which comes with each new board, has to be entered once installed.
