I went to this washing machine today and when it goes to spin after the last rinse the distibution speed seems to be too fast. It causes the tub to jump violently, the drum hits the door glass, and water leaks from the door.

The tacho and magnet look OK.

1.Can the drum speed be adjusted ? Or is it a case of a new module ?
    2. Can I check the drum speed ?

I remember a few years back that Hotpoint supplied a strobe disk, which was attached to the drum pulley, to check the speed. Is this sort of thing still relevent, or used ?

    Thanks in advance

Is it draining ok, blocked sump will caused it to move around violently when entering spin ? No adjustments on these, if there is a tacho problem the motor will try to jump to full spin as soon as you start a cycle. If its tumbling ok then the motor speed system should be fine.

Thanks for that. The wash speed is OK, so the module must be as well. It did seem to drain OK, although I didn’t remove sump to check. I’ll have another look. Thanks again

Also look at the dampers as again drum will jump about. If they are the original metal square ones they will almost definitely be shot 😉
