    Hi,

    The alarm light comes on very quickly after the door is opened. When thermostat dial is rotated towards minimum the light goes out and if I turn it back towards max it comes on again. The compressor does not stop when I do this and is very hot which seems to indicate that it is running all the time. Refrigeration seems to be taking place ok. I have not come upon this phenomenon before, should I suspect the stat.

    I would suspect a system problem on that one Laurence.

    It seems that the unit is only just reaching temperature hence the warning light coming on soon after the door has been opened.

    Compressor or gas leak IMO.

    Yep, I’d agree Laurence. I wouldn’t be looking at the stat with those symptoms either.
