The wash cycle knob has broken and I see that it is a common problem, I have removed the top cover etc to get to the knob and removed it from the pcb, while doing this a tiny spring and brass cover fell out but I do not know where it goes?

after fitting a new knob does the pcb have to be re programmed or will it work as normal?

    any help appreciated

The display/facia pcb does not need programming.
