has anyone changed a heat pump without resorting to a strip down?
looks almost possible if you could cut the old clip off.

In a word ….yes ! 20-25mins max . If you take the rhs panel off , remove the mains lead , lift out the power module (no need to disconnect any cables) & this gives you access to the heat pump. Remove rubber strop , carefully cut off old clip , remove heater/ntc/motor connectors , twist heat pump clockwise to release from diverter the pull off .
On refitting new one , put new jubilee clip on rubber hose 1st and tighten slowly then centre new heat pump on main seal and rotate anticlockwise and ensure heat pump fully engages in rubber connector on diverter. Jubilee clip should be within 5mm of edge but can be manipulated from rhs.

Thanks, was going to have a go from the side but was unsure if there was another clip on the front of the pump or not. It was only when I stripped it I realised it may be possibe.
Only took twice as long to strip it anyhow and a good learning exercise.

Did my first one of these this week. I did it by laying the machine on its back and just pulling the base away. (Overall easier than previous range) I had to do a wiring change as well. Should there be a thin jubilee clamp in the kit? As I didn’t have one in the box, even though there was a picture showing where to position it on the hose.
I was reluctant to fit a thicker jubilee clamp so managed to reuse the old clamp. (Fingers crossed)

yes had clip with my one, its the same narrow clip as fitted on the previous range. No wiring change on my one though?
On the whole, an easier strip down than before as the meetering tank/air break stays on the tub rather than being left behind. They have also dispensed with some screws favoring bending tabs of stainless at the rear instead!
Mind you, if you can change the wash pump without a strip down there is probably never any reason to do one.
Pump/heater etc is crap but good value for money at £80 or so for what would have been £250 odd for the same parts (heater/pump/motor)on the previous range. could be good for business too as they dont look too reliable and the total repair cost is realistic.

There should be a new jubilee clip with the new heat pump….part no 172272 IIRC….. The new wiring/plug set up is due to a change in the heater/NTC connection’s but can’t remember what the FD change over date is .

The original heater had 3 red wires and an earth. The new one had 2 red wires and an earth. I think the original had two elements where as the new version only has one? The NTC wiring has changed to thinner wires and a connector as used on most valves.
