    Our Bosch HBN131220B/03 Oven overheated today, burning the food inside. It was getting way too hot, and turning the temperature control down did not turn off the element. This led me to believe that the thermostat had failed. However, on trying it again later in the day, it did switch off the element when the required temperature was reached, and it appeared to be operating normally.

    Any ideas? Can thermostats fail intermittently?

    Very much doubt it, more likely the thermostat needs replacing. New t/stat shown HERE

    Thanks for that. I’m now told that there’s a possibility that it may have been switched to ‘Hot Air Grilling’ rather than normal oven mode. I guess that might explain the burnt food, and also why the oven thermostat appears to be working OK for me now?
