KeymasterThis email arrived in this afternoon…
Dear fellow installer,
Over the last few years I have noticed how my customers seem to be getting pinched right left and centre by various companies, including boiler manufacturers offering boiler maintenance plans. I’m sick fed up as I found the customer, sold them a boiler only to find others pinching the maintenance work. The boiler manufacturers are simply out of order by actively targeting our customers on the back of boilers that we loyally fit. Why do we find ourselves accepting their word ‘we are just providing a warranty’ when we know they are and will continue to target our customers when we install a boiler.
I have been informed that Worcester now has around 110 000 boiler maintenance plans, that is outrageous. We Installers are losing work hand over fist. Worcester and the like need to understand what they do for a living, which is sell boilers and leave the warranty work to us.
When UK consumers recently threatened to boycott companies who avoided tax, the companies took action. Boiler manufacturers need to do the same. It’s now time for us installers to take a stance. Please reply to this email and give me your opinion as to how we can fight back. I will then share this information between us all.
We cannot go on losing work like this; it’s time to stick together.
Kind regards
A concerned installer
Lots of money in selling loads of warranties.

That’s life I’m afraid, its a sea full of sharks.
I have issues with middlemen though, such as JTM, but I don’t condone the people who produce the product from seeking to maintain it, after all it was there product you sold and as such you have a choice to sell another brand offering a different deal.
This is not unique.
You just need to learn the system, fighting it is just a waste of time and effort.

The issue is manufactures have been forced into reducing there prices further and further now have to look at other avenues for revenue, the profit from the sold product is no longer enough to sustain them, service & accessories is required to keep the books in the black.
