I am starting a new thread as I seem to be unable to ‘edit’ the other one to alter the title.

This problem started several weeks ago when I noticed that the F/F was making an unusual buzzing sound now and again immediately followed by a jump in the electricity being used. I figured it was the compressor operating.
    Finally the compressor stopped working.

I did a preliminary investigation down the back and on turning the power back on I could hear the buzzing coming from the Capacitor/Relay area on the side of the compressor. My friends Admiral had a similar fault and replacing both cured it so I duly ordered and fitted the new bits.

All was well initially but the buzzing is back and a couple of times the compressor has not started as it should. I assume this was the case as I could see the temp rising a bit. Most of the time the compressor is running normally but it seems to have this intermittent problem.

I still had the panel off when the buzzing first returned and I think I heard a slight ‘click’ from the same area and zero response from the compressor instead of jumping into life.

Has anyone come across this problem before and what else could be causing the buzzing noise?

Is this indicative of a compressor failure?

    Cheers
    Paul

Talking of the ‘jump in electricity’ being used. We have never really noticed these 2 Kw jumps before. They don’t last very long but they definitely appear unusual. The F/F compressor is running at the moment and not really drawing much power.

I wonder what it is using that extra power?
