I(Well the wife)have a Samsung 13 Kg washing Machine Model WA13G7Q1. I get error code 1E about 15 seconds after power on button pushed and then of course it freezes until power re-applied. I have replaced the drain pump and the level controller and checked the wiring harness and door switch.

Before I order a new control pcb I want to be very sure it needs replacing as it is fairly expensive.

Hi: When you replaced the pressure switch (Level controller) did you make sure that the small pipe was clear ?.

Yup. I also found a test sequence on the pcb. By holding in the 3rd button while powering up, it gives me a choice of 3 tests. test 1 cycles through all tests like water in, wash, pump out etc. it continues with this test until I stop it. Test 2 spins and pumps out until I stop it. Test 3 does nothing, and I think this may be where the problem is. When running these tests error 1E does not appear. The machine had a damaged harness and arced to earth on the pink wire to the level sensor. the 1E message appears 15 seconds after power button pushed, irrelative of whether any cycle was programmed or the cycles even started and does the same with the level sensor plug unplugged. I dont want to purchase a new pcb only to find it still not working.

:boops: Unfortunately you did’nt mention any shorting wiring in your 1st post, have you traced where the pink wire goes to the PCB ? If it shorted to Earth then you’ve probably got blown traces on the PCB at a minimum.

Yup I cleaned off the polyurethane potting compound on the pcb and checked all tracks(hairline), resistors(most are surface mount)and replaced the caps right to where the tracks enter the IC’s. I was hoping there’s a system reset solution as the processor still does all the diagnostics tests and the programming and memory seems ok. (except of course that mysterious test no 3 which nobody seems to know what it should test.)

Ok: Leave it with me overnight & i’ll ask a few colleagues about it for you, see what I can come up with.

Thank you all for listening:-) I have solved my problem. If ever someone else finds this problem (apparently the main pcb is no longer available as the machine is more than 5 years old) carefully remove the polyurethane potting compound and replace the 14 pin surface mount IC with cmos ic cd4069. The work is extremely fine, I had to use a jewelers loupe. Repot the pcb. VOILA!

Hi: Glad you got it sorted out & thanks for taking the time to let us know how you cured your problem. Would appear that a lot of things for this machine are no longer available including service info.
