Samsung WD0804W8E versus Bosch WVD24520GB/WVD24460GB

Hi everybody

My Bosch WVT1260GB has got a burnt out motor and I’m weighing up the pros and cons in buying a replacement.

I’ve seen a Samsung WD0804W8E and a couple of Bosch models models (WVD24520GB & WVD24460GB).

The pros for the Samsung are:
1) 5 year warranty if bought before the end of April
2) 10 year warranty on the motor
3) Bigger washing (8kg versus 5kg) and drying (5kg versus 2.5kg) capacity
4) Better energy rating (B compared to C for both Bosch)
5) Cheaper than WVD24520 (only a couple of quid more than the WVD24460GB)

On the plus side for either of the Bosch machines
1) I can use my old WVT1260GB for spare parts
2) I know my way around the machines (I’ve had the top and back off the old Bosch too many times to count) and the new ones seem to have many of the same parts
3) They are the same size as the old machine and would fit nicely in the cupboard (the Samsung may require messing around with cupboards and doors because I’ve heard it’s deeper than the specification states)

I have no experience with Samsung so I have no idea over it’s reliability. (I’m surprised the Bosch has given me so much trouble).

Which should I plump for? I’ve dithered too much and my wife’s given me an ultimatum!

Or, should I repair the old one? I can get a replacement motor for £60 on ebay, but I’m concerned that the board may have gone also so don’t want to throw good money after bad!

I’d rather get a separate washer and dryer but we just don’t have the space (or should I say that the dryer could go in the cellar, however seeing that the steps are steep and cellar is also frequented by mice, the Mrs is dead set against that!)
