ParticipantDue to the pipework for the washing machine space in the kitchen being the way it is my drainage hose for my washer is set up like this:

However I’ve recently came across the manual which dictates that the drainage hose is fitted for correct washer performance like so:

The machine on the surface operates fine. But there seems to be a lingering “bad” smell inside the drum that i can’t get rid off (i’v put about 6 90 degree washes on with an Affresh washer cleaner tablet in every one and countless 90 degree soda crystal washes on). I’m thinking maybe that there’s an ever present amount of “dirty water” from washes lying at the bottom of the outer tub that’s mingling with fresh water in new washes due to the machine not draining completely due to the way the drainage hose is set up. This may explain why my clothes start to smell sour very quickly when wearing them and the dodgy smell in the washer itself.
I tried myself to set up the drainage hose according to the manual but the hose is too short for me to do this when the machine is pulled out from the under-counter space.
I’m eager to hear any comments on the issue, i’d very much appreciate it!
Thanks

If your hose is installed in the way you’ve shown then you can get dirty water backfeeding into your machine & this would account for the bad smell, also your water may not be draining away fully & again will start to smell. Your best bet would be to buy a longer outlet hose & set your outlet up as shown in the manual, the other problem with the way your hose is set up is that it can cause siphoning of the wash water.

Thanks Specialist, will work on getting a drain hose connector and another hose to remedy the problem asap!

Your welcome, if you can it would be better to fit 1 complete length of new hose. You can get Universal outlet hoses up to 5m in length.
