ParticipantI got persuaded to go to a Miele Dryer (Model T294C) by an old customer (I generally avoid Miele stuff) as it was “not heating properly”. I found the condenser completely clogged and figured this was a nice simple job. Wrong! I cleaned the condenser and checked all air passages. But still no heat. I took of the rear cover and tested the TOC stats there and the element. All fine, but no voltage getting to the heater. At this point it was late so I had to leave.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what to check out next? Is there another TOC somewhere? I guess the thing overheated whilst the condenser was blocked. I do not have the Miele computerised test rig of course – another reason to avoid them!
Any suggestions folks?
Regards

did you have wet clothes in it ?
some dryers wont start heating if there is no dampness inside to save energy

p.s.
miele’s use a brush system at the top to sense water. i cheat this but wetting a peice of kitchen roll and placing it on top of the brush gear ( the brushes are only about an inch apart) to fool the system. you have to be careful it does not go into the works but you can hold it as there are no live wires close by

Hi Dave
I tried your trick, also put a wet towel in. No joy, so it was check heater and TOC for continuity, check resistance of rear NTC (all good) take out the heater pcb at rear right under lid, look for dry joints under relays, check main pcb is sending voltage to heater pcb…(all good so far)… At this point the customer, a wealthy chap, arrived and announced that he and his wife had decided to buy new, and how much did he owe me for the work done so far? (I was about to remove the front panel to test the front NTC, about the only thing not tested, apart from a break in the wiring loom). Very frustrating, but as it was well past my dinner time, who was I to argue??
Note to self: continue to avoid Miele machines…May 14, 2013 at 10:30 am #394809electrofix

anything but they can be good money spiners. had one the other week relays had gone on heater board. cost to fix about £10 but can charge £100 because of what miele would want for the board
a lot of faults on machine are down to relay failures. it is a machanical device so is prone to failure. has miele washer where pump not working. was relay on pcb. changes relay and charded £90. board was over £150 from mieleyou should have said to cust can you have dryer. 1 its good experience. 2 you end up with a good dryer either for yourself or for sale
