    We have an excellent NEFF B4540, except the display appears to have packed up today. There are none of the function lights working and the digital temperature display is also blank. The oven appears to work perfectly (at least on fan oven setting – dinner’s currently in the oven!) and I can hear the relay for the heating element clicking in & out every now & then.
    So, at a guess, all’s fine, apart from the display not working.

    I would have thought that the digital display would have been powered separately from the function lights?

    Anyway, any help appreciated – we’re a long way from most help, being an hour NW of Inverness!

    have you looked at display with a torch ie has the lights behind display failed ( not that this is an easy fix )

    also do not turn oven off as you may not get it back on if clock wont set

    either way looks like a complete display board and its very dear. i am getting prices in excess of £150 but need complete Enr to be certain

    Thanks for your reply – will do so.
    As I’ve suddenly lost both the LED displays for temperature & all the function selector lights I’d not think it to be an illumination issue, but I may well not understand how the display works. Will investigate.
    My fear is that a board is needed – and I’d also feared it would be expensive! I imagine it’s not a common model, so chance of a 2ndhand one slim?

    Thanks for the advice – decided to take a look.
    It’s v simple to get the covers off the oven and there are only 2 PCBs – main control one & display one. Both look expensive and my concern was that the fault could possibly be on either.
    They are joined by a single ribbon cable – so seemed a good idea to give this a gentle waggle. Joy of joys, the display came on again – not quite all at once, but enough to be reasonably confident that this was the problem. Bit more gentle waggling and the whole display is functional.
    Suspect this won’t be the last time I’ll be waggling but, worst case, should be DIY repairable.
    IF YOU DECIDE TO TRY SOMETHING SIMILAR YOURSELF, BE VERY AWARE THAT THERE ARE MAINS VOLTAGES ALL AROUND.
