    Hi,
Indesit WIL153, approx 5 years old, used as least daily, has stopped working, quite an inconvenience now !!
    I’ll looking for advice please.

When i select a rinse cycle, the 3rd LED from the top comes on (rinse LED), but the machine doesn’t rinse.

When I select a drain cycle, the 4th LED from the top comes on, (drain LED), but it doesn’t drain.

When I select a wash cycle, the wash cycle LED (either top LED or 2nd top LED, depending on cycle) comes on, the cold water solenoid energised for 0.75secs then turns off, and nothing happens.

In all the above cases, nothing else happens other than described, the machine just sits as if it’s waiting for christmas.

If I try the wash cycle with the door open, the cold solenoid does not open (as I’d expect), therefor I feel the door closed switch seems to be working.

    HELP !!!!!!!!!!

Is it work looking at the motor brushes, although I’d expect it to still drain if the motor brushes were worn out ?? Unless it’s a sequential thing ????

    Any clues greatfully received.

Switch off and unplug machine before doing any work!

Take off the top off the machine, and take a look at the connector where the mains lead enters the machine, you may find that this connector has overheated due to a bad connection..

Let us know how you get on

    Hi Martin,

    Thanks for quick reply.

I checked the connection (with a coil & couple of cap’s) and can’t see any issue there.

Hi. Yes have a look at the motor brushes. On a lot of Indesit machines if the brushes are worn out the machine will not do much or anything, though the door will lock from memory.

Cheers, bang on with your diagnostics. Just removed motor and brushes from motor, they are done / finished.

I’ll get a new set ordered tonight and hopefully got enough clean clothes left to last until they arrive !!

    Thanks again,

    Graeme
