    Hi,

I have an Indesit WE10UK washing machine that has destroyed its bearings. It has a seperate spider on the rear of the drum that contains both bearings which I have removed and replaced the bearings. However, there is also a rubber seal between the final bearing and the drum that fits into a hole in the outer drum, the shaft sticking out through the middle of the seal. I have tried everything I can think of but cannot get this seal into the outer drum.

The lip on the seal that fits into the hole is very stiff plastic whilst the middle is soft plastic and also has a spring wire retainer to grip the shaft. Every time I try to fit it I have to press hard enough to get the stiff plastic into the hole resulting in the soft plastic distorting and the spring slipping off…..and I have to start again.

Any ideas how to get this seal in would be very welcome.

    Thanks, Martin

The seal does not ‘fit’ into the rear of the outer drum, it merely sits flush against it, you have refitted a new seal and inserted it into the bearing spider the correct way round hopefully.

    Thanks iadom,

Seems so obvious once its been pointed out to you but it was doing my head in yesterday evening …..and you were right, I was putting the seal in back to front.

    Thanks again
