ParticipantHi
I have an ADP8322 which has developed a fault. It goes through the whole wash cycle, but the dishwasher tablet is not dissolved. I also note that although some heat has been generated it is not as hot as when it is operating correctly. This sounds to me like a NTC fault. I have done the machine reset/ rinse cycles several times and poured hot water into the sump followed by cold water with no joy. There also doesn’t appear to be any fault codes flashing. Does this point to the NTC as well, or is it something else? Any help would be much appreciated!May 24, 2013 at 10:06 am #395471electrofix

may be the ntc but they are not cheap on these machines so doing a swap to see if you are right is not a good idea.
one thing you could look at is the motor. this unit is built by whirlpool and by and large are very reliable. But, the motor they use wears with age and can, run, but not at full speed. to test put dishwasher on a rinse, wait till it fills and the motor starts then open the door. what you are looking for is lots of water being thrown around and you will get splashed as you do it ( hence you dont do it if its full of very hot water) if it seems weak then suspect a motor problemDave

Hi Dave
Thanks for the quick reply. I will try what you suggest.
Certainly when I open the machine after a rinse there does look like there’s been a lot of water thrown around.
Out of interest I did price an NTC and they come in around £28 with delivery.
Thanks once more and I’ll update you on progress.

Hi
I tried a couple of rinse cycles and I got the same result: pump comes on for a 2 or 3 minutes and I then hear the motor running. I’m pretty sure it’s not running as before. Perhaps it’s because the spray arms aren’t moving. I think the bottom one is spewing out a little bit of water as water is lying at the bottom.
Am I correct in saying this is the circulation pump gone?
The serial number is 33 0349 007787, so is it a case of quoting this when shopping around for a motor?Question for you dishwasher experts: I get the impression this is a well made system. Would you recommend repairing it (myself) taking into account it is 9 years old, or buying a new one which may potentially only last a few years?
Thanks

these are whirlpool units and apart from the motor problem are very reliable. motor is not too badly priced and not too bad to fit apart from the type of hose clips they use

Thanks for the advice Dave, I think I may have a go at fixing it!
I was looking at this motor:

You think it will be okay, seems a reasonable price? I’ll quote my serial number to be on the safe side.
What do you recommend for the clips, jubilee type? What sizes are they?
Thanks

Hi Dave
I removed the pump last night and I noticed it is the dreaded Askoll type, COD 461972474391. The mounting is different to the ones you buy online. The Askoll has a large support peg that penetrates the rear of the machine. The motor/pumps I see online have a mounting bracket. I note that there are holes at the rear of the machine which I suspect are for this mounting bracket. Is this correct?
Thanks in advance for your help.

HI
Pump part no 481236158434 is direct replacement for Askoll type pumps.
