ParticipantHi Guys: Got 1 of the above that I’ve been asked to change the drive belt on, don’t do many driers & never come across 1 of these. Was wondering how much of a job it is or anyone have any shortcut tips ?
Apart from take a fully charged battery screwdriver that is 🙂

Its a pig of a job. 😥
I usually remove both sides, remove drum completely then refit the new belt to the motor shaft after taking off the fan cowling.
Release the front panel before refitting the belt. I usually fit the belt to the motor, slide the belt over the drum with the drum at the side of the machine and then push the drum back into place to refit the rear bearing shaft. then its just a fiddle getting the front panel back into place.
I don’t touch/remove the motor, heater or stats etc. Get the belt nice and warm as well, also check the condition of the jockey pulley as that is often a reason for belt failure as is a failed rear bearing/shaft.
Here is the official method. 😉

Cheers Jim: Looks like it should be fun, especially in a tiny kitchen.

About 15 mins i take the right hand panel off, remove screws on bracket to back panel unplug mains t/b remove 2 screws securing water bottle support bracket and left hand back panel screws , remove bearing cover and remove drive pin, push drum forward to clear back panel slip belt over drum, remove fan cowling and fan slip belt over shaft remove right hand pulley screw slacking left hand pulley screw use pulley to stretch belt and reassemble in reverse order.

Hey Johnny: Thanks for that, will give it a go & see how I get on. If the customer is there when i’m doing the machine I guarantee it will take more than 15 minutes though 😉 She’s a cracker & was parading round in front of me in a set of low cut shorttie PJ’s when I went there today 😀
