My Servis 1000A heats the water to boiling on all the programs. The heater only comes on at the correct points in the cycle i.e. it doesn’t come on in rinse etc but it has lost the ability to regulate the temperature. Any suggestions?

The thermostat is the place to start looking. It’s beside the heater.

Is it a ‘true’ thermostat on these i.e. an on/off device or is it a thermistor? And thanks for the quick reply, Nick

Problem solved; it was indeed in the area of the thermostat, but not the ‘stat’ itself. The wiring loom had been shaken loose over the years & had sagged enough for it to rub on the edge of the belt which had gradually acted like a bandsaw & cut through parts of the loom, starting with one of the wires connected to the ‘stat’. Mending this wire and carefully re-dressing the wiring loom has restored normal operation.
