    Hello,

My friend’s Bosch Classixx (WVF2402GB) is washing everything too hot – so hot that it shrinks things!

Looking through spare parts available, I see a thermostat sensor.

Would this be a good place to start?
Or is this a well known problem with another fix available?

I have no technical equipment to take readings etc., but have a decent set of tools and some engineering experience.

    Thanks in advance.

It is a conventional variable thermostat control that is fitted on this model. The control directly from the fascia panel. They are normally very reliable indeed unless someone or something breaks the capillary phial that connects into the drum at the back?

The replacement part number is 169859 but it is showing as “currently not available” right now. So I wish you luck in sourcing one. 🙁

    Hello Martin,

Many thanks for your quick reply.

Yes, that makes sense. Next time I’m over there, I’ll check to see that nothing looks broken or detached inside.

Thanks for the part number. Shame it’s not currently available, but at least I know what I’m looking for, now.

    Excellent stuff. Much appreciated.
    Best wishes, Sh

You may also want to check that the hot & cold hoses are the correct way around on the back of the machine. If there’s only one then it needs to be fitted to the cold, not hot. Wiz

    Thanks, wizard.

Will also check this, next time I’m there.
But I think that this is a recent problem, the machine was working fine for some years previously, so assuming that hose/hoses are fitted correctly?
    Worth checking, though.
    Many thanks.

Re: Bosch classixx washing too hot

    Hello again.

So, went to my friends, took the covers etc off the Bosch and checked for any obvious faults or breakages. None found.

Set the temperature control switch to COLD (ie OFF position) and did a wash. Wash was very hot.

Took of switch, dismantled and cleaned it and replaced it. Did another wash. Same thing. Very hot.

So: the water heater is working but cannot be switched off.
My (amateur) guess is that it must be the switch?

If I can find one, I’ll swap it out and post results.

    Thanks for help, so far.
    Best, SH
