Freezer temp rises every fortnight as frost builds up around coolant pipes in the back of freezer compartment. Defrost unit using hairdryer works great for two weeks then same problem again. Any ideas?

check both fridge and freezer door seals to make sure they are not split and are sealing ok. May be a faulty defrost heater, thermistors or fan, the thermistor do fail quite ofter on this range, which can cause icing problems but normally noticable by a warm fridge first or displaying an error. If the door seals are o.k i would suggest you get a engineer to have a look.

Had engineer out replaced fan and thermistor. Still same problem. Engineer says it could be heater motor? Told me he wouild replace it free of charge but now cannot be contacted. On further investigation address in yellow pages does not exist. Contacted trading standards and advised to contact police. Cannot serve a writ as no address to send to. Cannot be charged as has replaced items paid for. Anyone else had similar problems? Any ideas as to next step?

Did they not leave a reciept with address on? If his add is in yellow pages he must still be around, keep trying and withhold your number so he cannot tell its you. Fight this as we all hate this kind of practice. there is no ‘heater motor’ if he has changed only on thermistor then he has 2 and a pcb as well.

Receipt has only the phone number which is an 0800 number. Still cannot contact him so have decided to cut losses and purchase a new appliance.

TO ANYONE THINKING OF GETTING REPAIRS DONE,
PLEASE CHECKOUT ADDRESS FIRST AND ENSURE PHONE NUMBER IS NOT JUST AN 0800 NUMBER.

If anyone has had problems of this nature please let Trading Standards, the police or even BBC Watchdog know, as I would like to see this cowboy stopped.

Thanks to all who have offered me advice.
