Hi,
A customer of mine have this dishwasher for the last 3 to 4 years, it developed a fault which I could not work out what was the problem.
Basically it fills then would not wash then went to drain.
During my visit to the dishwasher I carried out the test, so here goes…
Electric checks – Earth cont – ok
Insulation >2000mohmfunctional checks
First drain – ok
Fills and reached to correct level – indicates inlet valve and pressure switch – ok
*PAUSE* approx 2 mins
Then drainsNo error code flashes
Components test –
Heater – 26ohms
Circulation motor -30ohms
Inlet Valve – 3.2K ohms
Tacho – OKDishwasher service number is 33 0910 014607
Serial number – 8545 495 15840So what I am looking at? Faulty motor – bearing in mind there’s no noise to indicate worn impeller?
Dodgy board – no fault code flashes which kinda stumped me.The customer is valued as I get a lot of work from him on rented properties and the dishwasher in question is from his own house. In the past, the dishwasher had jammed drain pump caused by wooden skewer which I removed and left the machine in full working order.

check the motor first they dont always make a noise when they fail. you have to listen very carefully for a humming noise

Forgot to mention that when I used the clamp meter, I took note of what was happening and there was a time which the the readings were hard to interpret. The clamp measured the flow of current while various components were operating.
From standing still while powered on, the reading came up as 4, when the drain pump came on it went up to 281, during the pauses, the readings fluctuates from 900 to 4 then 900 back to 4 and so forth. I thought it was a very high fluctuation.
The ohms readings from Motor and drain pump were similar so I do not expect such high current readings from the clamp as both should operate similar current flows. What you think?

900 what? if thats amps something could be glowing
long shotfault seems a big vague and the readings are all over the place so i am thinking its a pcb problem. specifically a power supply problem on the board. if the board gets to a point it runs out of power it will turn the motor on, run out of power, and then on again untill the timer crashes or times out. this will make your ammeter get alternative readings of on and off. since digital meters take time to settle this may be the reason for your wild readings
look at the timer printed circuit board. you are looking to see if they use a series capacitor to power it

The setting on the clamp was set at 2000mA, the readings I got was 900, so I guess 900mA. The drain pump was 281mA. I was expecting something similar for a wash motor if not then a little more but not fluctuating between 900 and 4.

I sent off the board to QER to have it checked out, came back as no fault found but on the job sheet from QER stated suspected a fault on the heater circuit.
Scratching my head wondering what this means… the heater unit itself or the wiring or the heater circuit on the board?
I am running out of options on how to fix this dishwasher. Part of me thinking I should replace the heater and motor unit and hope for the best. But this is rather expensive way of doing this and there’s no guarantee it will work out.
What are your thoughts?
