KeymasterMy washing machine Tecnik 9260 is about 3 years old and has developed a serious problem. During several of the cycles (usually filling) water comes spraying out of the dispenser section for no apparent reason. I have removed the dispenser to check and felt the hoses going into the drum but they don’t appear blocked in any way. It looks as if the water pours in too fast to the dispenser and overspills out of the tray.
Can you help ?

KeymasterThis happens on a few machines if the local water pressure is too high and all you can do is reduce that using the tap until the problem goes away. 😕

OK – but is this likely to have changed so suddenly after 3 years without problems ? Also, if I do turn the water pressure too low, will this affect the washing cycle and quality ?

the 2 most common causes of this is that the dispensor hose could be clogged with excess soap powder or that there has been a build up of scale within the dispensor itself, try using a very stiff brush and hopefully that may cure your fault.

Yes it can change.
Turning it too low will affect the wash times but not the performance or results from the wash.
Essentially the water comes in through a valve which is a simple on or off electrovalve affair and then along a hose to teh soap dispencer at mains pressure. It then is fed through the top of the drawer and sprays down onto the detergent in the drawer carrying that into the wash.
The only other thing that I can think of is that if this is happening on the final rinse then the fabric conditioner could be blocked. But you said that you removed that and I assumed that you’d have given it a good clean whilst you had it out.
The only other way to get an overflow is in the hose from the bottom of the drawer that goes to the tub. If that is blocked or partially blocked it could cause this, but again you’ve said you’d checked that.
So given the information the logical conclusion is that the water pressure has altered and is high.

Had a good one with a servis. The vent hose after the U bend on the soap dispenser to drum hose was clogged causing the air displaced not to go anywhere. When it filled all the water went on the floor. Dont know if your machine has this though. Maybe engineer time.
