KeymasterHi,
We have an integrated Diplomat ADP8234 giving the E3 error code. This can be reset by powering down the unit at the mains and switching it back on.
The machine will run for about 30-40 minutes before the error shows. Water does appear ro be pumping and circulating; I tested this by running with a bowl turned the right way up on the top shelf and it filled with water.
Additionally the heater element appears to have sustained some kind of knock and looks to be kinked slightly near to where it is fitted in the base of the machine. This means that about 4-6 inches of the element are only about 1/2mm from the floor of the washer. Also, in this same area, the element looks discoloured slightly.
Wondering if anyone can recommend an engineer in the DA1 (Dartford) area whom I might contact. Also, assuming this is a damged element, any idea on how much they cost.
Thanks

KeymasterYes it is a heating fault but it can be caused by several things and, if you’re not too sure of it, then it’s not really a DIY fix.
For that postcode try;
J & J Parkinson – 020 8303 6950
T & J Parkinson – 02083036950
Sellens Service – 01732 521500
Swift Electrical Services – 01689 833315Hope that helps.

Thanks, yes, I realised that there are a number of possible reasons for this Error code. Having read a number of the Diplomat threads posted it is apparent that this could be anything from a Thermostat reset to a element or the control board.
Not really happy with attempting a DIY fix myself, hence the engineer request.
What I am worried about however is ending up with an engineer who can’t diagnose the fault correctly and ends up replacing 3 or more components before solving it as it would end up costing me more than the price of a replacement unit, assuming the prices of nearly £200.00 for a control board that I have seen are accurate.
I’ve seen replacement units for around £500.00, so I really want to weigh up mb options.

While fitting parts as a “test” is not an uncommon practice due to the complexities and lack of technical information available these days, It certainly isn’t in my experience common practice to leave parts fitted that do not solve the problem and charge customers for them.
If you are faced with this situation then I would expect anyone to challenge this, I would certainly expect this were I to attempt to charge for unnecessary parts.
Dave.
