Hi. Anyone got any ideas please: This is a built in Bosch washer dryer ( possible Smeg in disguise) which does not heat on tumble dry, this is what it does and the way it goes wrong: firstly, the 3 way inlet valve`s dryer valve had gone o/circ = no h2o on t/drying, this solenoid I replaced, another thing noticed, the main problem, is that the push button o/load stat had popped out = no heat. I reset this stat and the machine started to heat up on t/d. And so I had a look for blockages in the manifold under the dryer fan and also had the condenser off to view the inside- both clean as whistle. Put machine on test on dryer for 40 mins to end worked fine, with no o/load stat problems, a good flow of hot air. Only thing noticed was the dryer fan was a little noisy when hot and if stopped made a squeaky noise as it slowed down to stop but when restarted it seemed to pick up to speed ok and run as before ok.
Customer used machine other day and back to square one with o/load popping out. Went back, reset o/stat again, ponced about with it again on test….nothing went wrong! Now lasted for one drying sequence again (60 mins- she says) and gone wrong again today, presume o/load popped out as before.
Anyone got any ideas please? Are the fan motors known to jam inconsistently because there seem to be only 3 things that would pop the o/load 1) a blockage- there isn`t one, 2) fan seizing when hot (?) but didn`t when tested and 3)overheating due to some reason or other, perhaps the thermistor- I wouldn`t think so/ difficult to judge. All very odd of course. Please help!!

It is a Smeg underneath but it looks like you have covered all the possibles. Usually its fluff build up on the fan but that would have been obvious when you removed it. Fan motors do stop when hot but its a costly part to fit without proof. Sure its not the customer turning it off before cycle end? If NTC faulty it will flash up an F11 (I think) fault. I assume you have fitted a genuine valve, not just changed the coil?

Thanks eastlmark for helping me. No mention of F11 or any fault codes coming up. Did ask her if she or her hubby does not cheat the drying cycle as a thought that occurred to me- no they don`t, they let it run to the end. I changed one solenoid coil only of the 3 in line valve which I robbed off a spare zanussi valve, not the whole valve, just the solenoid that was o/circ and split…… this works and now lets in water on t/dry. Why? Is there some sort of weirdo back feed that mucks up the pcb if you do do this or not letting in enough h2o because the coil only partly opens the valve, one of the other solenoids has the same resistance as the zanussi coil I used…..please explain as cannot see how this would make the 4 tag o/load stst pop out and become o/circ to power to element- I`m obviously missing something. Reading your past posts, which are excellent by the way, you know a great deal on these/ Bosche machines.

Found out whats being happening. I replaced the thermistor, o/load stat, and the 3 way valve- the dryer valve solenoid was o/circ , the other two parts are cheap so why not just in case! I then tested the heap from last rinse, into spin having pre set dryer to come on for 50 mins. What actually happens is: after the spin cycle has finished and it goes on to dyer cycle there is a delay of up to 1.5 minutes SOMETIMES until the fan starts up, meanwhile the element is already on getting hot and so trips out the o/load stat = no heat, then the fan decides to come on- of course would`ve been ok if it was t`other way round but we can`t have that can we, far too easy! Its not the fan itself at fault as there`s no neutral so in that case it is a board fault. Deep down in my little heart I suspected a weirdo fault….Bu**er!! Anyone else ever had this please; I need a bit of support.

UPDATE. Sussed the bugger! Combination fault between the pcb ( ££ ouch! )and a faulty fan and an unconnected fault with the solenoid dryer valve just o/circuit coil.I don`t half get em!! Still up and running now though cost customer dear but it is an expensive machine being built in.
