Hi, I took all the hoses off my washing machine to give them a good clean out as I have many times before, however; this time it happily completed a quick cycle without a load but i’ve gone to do a normal load and it now trips the RCD as soon as it starts to engage the programme. I have checked around all the wires and all seem undamaged, I have disconnected the motor and motor earth and it now stays on but obviously doesn’t start the programme. Whats the most likely cause? What else can I try?

Hi, could be motor carbons make sure you check both of them, damp in motor or motor armature fault? try fitting a used/new motor to test it checking heater element just to be on safe side might be worth a try hope this helps

As Woods said: It could be a faulty motor but given that you took all the hoses off to clean them, the 1st thing I’d check would be that you don’t have a leak onto the motor or heater.
